About Me
Hobby is a Canadian pen spinner from an online forum called UPSB (Universal Pen Spinning Board). Hobby educates pen spinners with critical thinking, theory, and behind-the-scenes philosophies of pen spinning. His own pen spinning is focused on execution and aesthetics, deeply rooted in a classic style of using simple tricks.
He first joined UPSB in October 2010, and later became a moderator on the forum before the site was shut down due to financial reasons.
On UPSB, Hobby organized and edited collaboration videos for four seasons, a video series called the “Season Project”. In addition, he is known in the community for creating, organizing, and managing both offline and live streams of the “UPSB Talkshow Podcast”.

With prior experience of online pen spinning communities, Hobby decided to create a pen spinning Discord server called, “The Workshop”. In the absence of UPSB, it was meant to create a helpful community for English-speaking pen spinners. Started in 2019, he managed this Discord server until it later became archived/inactive in 2024.

During the COVID pandemic, Hobby has written many articles, edited/organized collaboration videos, appeared in two major community videos (TWPS 15th and UPSB 4th), and co-hosted a podcast with Vietnamese pen spinner Akai called “Akai & Hobby Talks”.
Hobby has an understanding of execution-based aesthetic spinning and a solid foundation of knowledge in the process of creating pen spinning media.
